In 2005, Rotarians For Fighting AIDS (RFFA) created a multi-sector partnership with NGO HOPE worldwide; The Coca Cola Africa Foundation (TCCAF – Media, Marketing & sub-grant), and Emory University Schools of Public Health and Nursing (Monitor & Evaluation). Together, with the help of Sandra Thurman (President of the International AIDS Trust), they went to PEPFAR and obtained a five year, six country OVC grant for $8.1 Million USD with the goal of providing care and support for 146,000 OVC. TCCAF provided a three year grant for $1.2 Million USD in support of the program. (See RFFA Partnerships)

The program is focused on providing care and support for thousands of orphans and vulnerable children in six countries including South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Kenya, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire. After a mapping of needs is done, the children are found caregivers, and they are connected to medical and legal services. In this partnership effort, RFFA mobilizes Rotarians at the country level to provide volunteer support through local Rotary Clubs at the country level with the HOPE worldwide staff. RFFA also mobilizes the international community of Rotarians and Rotary Clubs to create Matching Grants with the Rotary Foundation. This has resultedt in funds donated to the children in these countries in the amount of $250,000 USD for OVC education (school fees, uniforms, supplies, food) with another $50,000 promised by 2010 year end.

Through the ANCHOR partnership, 118,000 orphans and vulnerable children have been provided care and support.
