How You Can Help with Orphan Rescue?

A $450 donation for one child assures daily nutritional support

Rotarians, Rotary Clubs, Districts Zones and friends of Rotarians are all urged to participate at anytime in this worthwhile effort. You will save lives and offer hope by allowing communities to remain communities, giving caregivers badly needed support for those in their care and most of all offering the children you help the chance to stay healthy and to plan for their own futures through education.

WHICH CHILDREN DOES YOUR DONATION SUPPORT?

Orphan Rescue supports children in communities where ANCHOR (Africa Partnership for Children Orphaned and at Risk) is operational. Orphaned and vulnerable children in communities in Nairobi, Kenya; Lagos, Nigeria, and sites throughout South Africa are currently in the program. Efforts are underway to expand the program to Ivory Coast, Zambia and Botswana with other African countries in the pipeline.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH YOUR DONATIONS?

Your donation of $450 or more is tax deductible and will be wired by the RFFA Treasurer to a special RFFA Orphan Rescue/HOPE worldwide account in Johannesburg, South Africa. From there it will be administered by HOPE worldwide staff who work in the communities where the children live and are able to identify those in need. Local Rotarians will oversee the administration of the funds.

WHAT FEEDBACK DO I RECEIVE IN RETURN FOR MY DONATION?

You will personally receive a thank you/tax receipt letter from RFFA. In addition, on a quarterly basis, you will be able to read articles and view pictures on the RFFA website (www.rffa.org) about how your donations are helping – which communities, how many children, and some background stories of the children impacted by your donation.

WILL I GET ANY INDIVIDUAL FEEDBACK ABOUT A PARTICULAR CHILD MY DONATION HAS HELPED?

Although our budget of $450 is based upon one child’s needs for nutritional support and education for one year, the feedback will be general in nature and updated on our website.

There are two reasons for not providing donors individual feedback: One, the administrative and staffing costs in providing individual feedback would be excessive; we are only taking out 5% for RFFA and 5% for HOPE worldwide and want to limit it to that. We prefer that the children and families receive the funds, not us for overseeing the process.

The other more important reason we do not identify the recipients of the donations is because it is discriminatory to the children who are identified in the community as “orphans" and recipients of charity.
