Hello Marion!
This is one of the many moments that I have less or no speech to make! Reagan has beaten ALL CHILDREN IN 54 SCHOOLS IN MATHARE! He managed to score 408 points out of 500 points! I feel so proud of him, and the school at large. God bless our school and teachers who worked hard for this achievement. We had registered 58 candidates out of which 52 of them got above average. Reagan has lead the rest of the students. Am humbled by the support you to me, morally, materially and spiritually. This has been the pillar on to which we anchored our faith and strength. Please accept my humble appreciation for the contribution you made for the success of Reagan. Am now waiting for the calling letter from a secondary school, which will help know where he will be joining. I will continue updating you on the same. Regards, Leonard Wawire Principal

Hello Marion,
This is Reagan breaking the silence after a long time. In a mood of joy and frenzy, I am accompanying chunks of chicken with hot king-size potatoes in my flat belly. That is my christmas. How is yours? I just imagine in my field of vision a kind woman with chabby chicks and almond eyes sitting by the table of all delicious meals. My eight years of learning are over. Remembering the struggle, it was not easy. By patience, untiring labour, sometimes in deep caverns of earth, by the light of torches and candles I managed to study. Though deprived of every comfort, shut away from the light of the sun, making my home the dark but friendly bosom of the earth, I uttered no complaint. Thus have been brought forth the treasures of hard work, so long concealed in my hard work, scoring 408 marks out of 500. Please help sending me to school come January 2011. Otherwise, have a smart new year celebrations. Thank you, Reagan Omondi |

Dear Marion,
Hallo and how have you been for many days? We are fine and busy with our duties. I hope you are quite well. I am working hard to improve everyday. I am looking forward to my final primary exams this year. I hope to pass and excel despite any challenge to my way. Recently, I felt your presence near after sending the RFFA chairman Peter Doyle to visit me. He made me more determined by advising me that I was the most significant person in the society. I really appreciated his presence in Kenya. Lastly, please write and inform me when we could next meet. I will be glad to stay with you. I hope to enjoy just as I did at Serena Hotel. With those few remarks, pass my hearty greetings to William and to you, receive God's profound blessings. Yours faithfully, Reagan Omondi. |

I came from Gem in Siaya District, Nyanza Province.
I came from Mathare and I am 13 years old. Father - My father died in 2005. Mother - I think my Mother is alive but I don't know where she is. She disappeared after my father's death. Myself - I am still undergoing education. I have neither a brother nor a sister. I have faced a lot of challenges like; I) Not being able to pay school fees. II) My uncle not being able to provide my basic needs; but thanks to Marion and HOPE Worldwide Kenya who have tried to meet some. The H.W.W.K. and the Rotarians have helped me to remain and learn in school by: 1) Providing me with uniforms. 2) Helping me develop psychosocially. 3) Providing me with bed-kits to assist my sleep in a condusive environment. Through the aid given, I have been able to improve in; 1) Class work and social activities like singing and playing. 2) I have been able to concentrate and relax for not being sent for school fees constantly. 3) I have not also been a harzadous burden to my uncle because most of my educational needs are provided. My future plan is to work hard in school and university, get an excellent degree and become a Prime Minister in my country. Through obtaining a good future, I will be able to help people in need like me. Editor's Note: Reagan sat for the first examination in 2010, and he emerged at the top of his class of 62 children. He also was elected "Prime Minister" of his school's Kidz Club.
