Strategic Focus Area 1: Program Development

Goal 1: Mobilize communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS

  • 1.1: Identify and develop strategic partnerships with local AIDS community
    organizations and government councils in areas with the greatest need
  • 1. 2: Form project partnerships with other multinational organizations
    (in public, private and faith-based sectors) to work together, each bringing
    specific area of expertise
  • 1.3: Identify private organizations or public funding group

Goal 2: Mobilize Rotarians in the fight against HIV/AIDS

  • 2.1: Develop a volunteer ‘corps' of Rotarians
  • 2.2: Affect change in Rotarian views about HIV/AIDS
  • 2.3: Link programs in targeted/priority countries with resources and volunteers through Project Match link. Investigate link to RI Foundation funds

Strategic Focus Area 2: Organizational Development

Goal 1: Develop the membership of RFFA

  • 1.1: Increase Rotarian involvement in RFFA
  • 1.2: Increase the diversity of RFFA membership as measured by multinational representation
  • 1.5: Utilize the network of District Health Concerns task force/S. African District RFFA Chairs to mobilize local clubs, increase membership in RFFA, and communicate about HIV/AIDS issues and RFFA activities.

Goal 2: Improve Communications

  • 2.1: Increase use of website for communication purposes.
  • 2.2: Identify and develop resources to implement improved communication technology for consistent and real time board communication
  • 2.3: Target RI communication venues to strengthen communication across RI

Goal 3: Develop the RFFA Board

  • 3.1: Achieve racial/ethnic and multinational board diversity
  • 3.2: Define the roles and responsibilities of board members

Goal 4: Develop organizational structure and functioning

  • 4.1: Determine the need for a paid RFFA staff -  Consult similar organizations for examples of structures and functioning
    -  Potential staffing areas: communications, resource development, volunteer coordinator, executive functions
  • 4.2: Develop a succession plan for RFFA

Goal 5: Funding Development

  • 5.1: Establish a committee focused on resource development.
  • 5.2: Identify need for and sources of in-kind gifts (e.g. travel vouchers, materials for RFFA functioning)
  • 5.3: Identify grant goals based on the finalized RFFA plan and the priorities for resource development
    -  PEPFAR initiative
  • 5.4 Identify corporate partners for funding request to underwrite infrastructure costs for first 5 years
    -  Coca-Cola
    -  Corporate-Rotary partnerships re: HIV diagnostics and treatment

Strategic Focus Area 3: Develop AIDS Awareness throughout Rotary International

Goal 1: Increase Awareness Among RI Leadership

  • 1.1: Communicate with R.I. leadership about RFFA activities
  • 1.2: Increase RFFA support among current district governors

Goal 2: Utilize International Convention for RFFA communication and recruitment
